But the supreme court later in September allowed Trump’s ouster of Slaughter to go into effect – an action that drew dissents from its three liberal justices – while agreeing to hear arguments in the case. The supreme court is expected to rule by the end of June.

Health officials have identified a new strain of mpox in England after a person who recently travelled to Asia was tested for the virus. The UK Health Security Agency said on Monday it was continuing to “assess the significance of the strain”. While most mpox infections are mild, officials urged people who are eligible to get vaccinated to protect themselves. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a year-long public health emergency during the mpox outbreak in 2022. A second public emergency was declared in 2024 when another mpox epidemic broke out, largely affecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“We identified an association between social media use and increased inattention symptoms, interpreted here as a likely causal effect,” said the study. These findings suggest that social media use may contribute to rising incidence of ADHD diagnoses.”Torkel Klingberg, a professor of cognitive neuroscience at the Karolinska Institute, said: “Our study suggests that it is specifically social media that affects children’s ability to concentrate. “Social media entails constant distractions in the form of messages and notifications, and the mere thought of whether a message has arrived can act as a mental distraction. Immigration agents appeared on Sunday at the Texas home of the family of Any Lucia López Belloza, the 19-year-old college student who was recently deported to Honduras while on her way to visit them for Thanksgiving, her family reportedly said. Within 48 hours she was deported to Honduras, a country she left at age seven when her family came to the US. Her father and the family’s lawyer told the New York Times that on Sunday immigration agents appeared at their family home in Austin.
